Bitcoin Price Tipped to Attack $80K as Shorts Face Pressure Amid Iran Peace Deal Hopes

Bitcoin (BTC) starts the final week of May 2026 with traders optimistic about a rebound to $80,000. After a weekend dip that pushed the price below $75,000 — the lowest level since mid-April — the cryptocurrency is already showing signs of recovery, trading around the $77,000 range.

1. Shorts Under Pressure at $80,000

Analysts have identified a large concentration of short positions in the $80,000 to $80,500 zone. The X account Cryptic Trades classified the recent drop as a "fakeout" near the April 2025 lows. Trader Daan Crypto Trades highlighted that bulls need to hold the "bull market support band" to maintain the upward momentum.

2. US-Iran Peace Deal Boosts Markets

Expectations of a peace deal between the United States and Iran are stronger than ever. Markets are already pricing in the end of the conflict: S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures hit new all-time highs, while the Japanese market surged 3.5%.

3. Inflation Data (PCE) on the Radar

Investors are awaiting the release of April PCE (Personal Consumption Expenditures) data, the Federal Reserve's primary inflation gauge. Inflationary pressures continue to be a challenge for US monetary policy.

4. Binance Registers Massive BTC Inflows

Exchange Binance has accumulated 16,000 BTC in one month, with notably high net inflows over the past ten days. Analysts are watching this movement as a possible signal of institutional accumulation.

5. Warning of Mass Liquidation Event

Research warns of multiple bearish catalysts that could trigger a "large liquidation event" in the market. Trader Lennaert Snyder described the drop below $75,000 as a "very nice liquidity sweep", maintaining an intraday bullish bias with a target of $79,000 to $80,000.
